The announcement of Safari for Windows is something I wasn’t expecting and I can’t work out if it is a good thing or not. I dislike Internet Explorer and am happy about the inroads that Firefox has made into marketshare, but can’t help feeling that without a huge advertising campaign another browser is just going to occupy the same kind of niche position opera or, even worse, flock (a browser I like, but with a core which will always be playing catchup with firefox) has.
I guess if one good thing comes out of it (and assuming it has the same rendering engine) people might actually test their websites on it and keep Mac users happy.
I’ve found, by way of Neil Gaiman’s blog, something much better than What Should I Read Next - LibraryThing, apart from a lack of social networking it seems to have everything I need.
I have decided that I am only going to enter books by ISBN, so it may take some time before there is much there.
This is why I have greasemonkey installed.
Motivator, looks like fun. Speaking of which some lovely demotivational posters.
Just applied for my new tax disc online (hopefully it will arrive before I go on holiday) and it is a really simple procedure, working with the inland revenue site is not even close. In my experience inland revenue requires the entry of details they already know about, the DVLA just need a way of identifying the car and they carry out the MOT and insurance check for you, no need to have anything but a debit/credit card and the renewal notice at hand - brilliant. Only pity is the fixed £2.50 fee for credit card payments.
Windows Live Writer may be something to try out
Nice Lifehacker post linking to an easy method of geotagging Flickr photos with the aid of google maps.
Further to my post about local.live.com I have stumbled on FlashEarth which combines satellite imagery from local.live.com and google maps.
