’Twas Brillig*

I spent £45.80 with consoleplus for a Philips DVD drive to replace the Toshiba Samsung drive in my Xbox and 8 TORX screws later (6 long external T25s and 2 short internal T15s[1]) I had the old drive out the new drive in and a working Xbox. Result!

I noticed earlier that I could have bought a brand new Xbox plus 4 games (I own all except Halo 2, but that is what ebay is for) from argos for nearly 90 quid, but I’d have lost all my save games so I think this way is for the best.

I had a quick go at a platinum medal on PGR2 but my l33t skills have gone west and I was completely thrashed by the CPU.

[1] Everything online says it should be T20s and T10s which makes me think the cheap set of screwdriver bits I bought from focus might be mislabelled - the jump from T25 to T30 does look significantly larger than the other jumps.

I got to Rank 45 by completing several cone challenges on gold, next Kudos Rank requires approximately 100,000 more Kudos.

Well it certainly looks like progress, even though I spent over an hour trying (and failing) to complete an overtake on the Place de Jaume, Barcelona track in “Grand Touring” - instead of passing the sxth car I kept bumping into it. The remaining Silver in KWS are:

The last Super Cars Silver is for a Timed Run (6 laps round Piazza della Repubblica, Florence) and I am consistently half a second a lap off the pace. I currently have the following cars to buy/unlock

Unfortunately I am down to just 4 Kudos Tokens, having bought a Dodge Viper SRT-10 to complete the Track Specials with Gold.

It’s the weekend so not much playing and anyway I had to stop for Lost on E4:

I’ve had to give up on “American Muscle” for now since I was finding too many tracks too difficult.

Cone challenge in the super cars series (I think it was “Capital Thrill” ) proved problematic kept failing to get 6000 points by a tiny amount.

Converted quite a bit more silver to gold last night:

Rats! Despite (or because of?) a numerical analysis background I hate rounding - I was quite happy to just use whole number percentages until this set turned up, but I don’t want to round them all up and get a total of 101%.
