Lego Star Wars II - Episode IV complete

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

Lego Star Wars II: The Original TrilogyI completed story mode (without True Jedi) ages ago, but other games came along and I forgot about Lego Star Wars. Recently the eldest two have started playing and I picked up my save to have another bash. Last night I finally got the last red brick on “A New Hope” - annoyingly hidden at the end of chapter 6 in a fairly obvious place (so obvious I can’t believe I missed it), that leaves 24 gold bricks and 5 red bricks in the remaining episodes.

General gaming post

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

I haven’t written that much recently. So just what is the current state of play? The lure of overtime temporarily KO’d a lot of my gaming activities, but I’ve been playing Civ IV, Dancing Stage Mario Mix (what curtains were invented for!), Resident Evil 4 and I’ve just picked up a copy of More Brain Training (apparently my Brain Age is a disappointing 42 :-( ). Plus the perennial Wario ware and Mario Party sessions with the kids.

Resident Evil 4

Thursday, June 14th, 2007

A little bit of a go at Resident Evil 4. So far I’ve wandered around a bit, shot lots of bad guys with axes and pitch forks, encountered an ex-Spanish Cop called Luis in a wardrobe, been captured and injected (with something - I guess a virus?), shot lots more people and encountered a bad guy who seems to think I’m one of them.

Chapter 1-1: Hit Ratio 70%, Enemies Killed 36, Deaths 2 (well I was still getting used to the controls)
Chapter 1-2: Hit Ratio 82%, Enemies Killed 53, Deaths 0

Yay!

A games/DVD shop, called Black Box, has opened in Aldridge (Map) - it seems to be mainly second hand stock, but there is a nice selection of gamecube games and today I found a reasonably priced and good condition copy (complete with Nintendo Stars) of Resident Evil 4. :D

Mario Party 5

Sunday, March 11th, 2007

Another game of mario party - this time in future dream. #1 + #2 each had a one star handicap (I think #2 really requires 3 stars) - #1 scraped a win.

Donkey Konga

Sunday, March 11th, 2007

Yay! The kids wanted to play Donkey Konga!

Boo! Because they’d never shown much interest before we only have one set of bongos.

Mario Party 5 - Story Mode

Saturday, January 13th, 2007

This weekend daytime gaming mainly consisted of helping #2 get through story mode - which is far harder than story mode in Mario Party 4. So far we have only completed two boards.

Lego Star Wars II

Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy Box ArtI’ve started a proper go at the collecting phase, so far I’ve only got 5 (out of 12) Jedi Status on a new hope, around half the containers and a handful of gold bricks - must do better (as my 4th year reports would put it).

Luigi’s Mansion

Monday, October 30th, 2006

Luigi's Mansion Box ArtThis really belongs to #1, but he has decided that it is too scary - from what I’ve seen so far it is scary in the Ghostbusters sense and not the Resident Evil sense. I’m a little unsure whether it will be fun since I don’t feel that comfortable with the control method for Luigi’s vacuum cleaner (the Poltergust 3000). Obviously the vacuum cleaner is what reminded me of Ghostbusters and the fact that I’m exploring a strange mansion reminds me of Resident Evil.

Super Mario Sunshine - Completed

Sunday, October 29th, 2006

Super Mario SunshineBusy couple of days on Isle Defino. I finished Pianta Village Episode 7 with #2, we then went back and finished up to Episode 7 of Sirena Beach (we had got stuck on an early Yoshi based episode even though I’ve previously done it on my save) and we unlocked Corona Mountain. Disturbingly the path through Corona Mountain reminded me of playing Crash Bandicoot, but was fairly easy - lots of timed jumps. At the end rocketed up to find Bowser, Bowser Jr and Peach in a hot tub floating in space - five rocket ground pounds and the hot tub is in pieces. Peach has been rescued. Game Complete!
