‘Twas Brillig*

There are times when gaming becomes obsessional and I’m afraid this is one of those times. For the last couple of nights I’ve been aiming for the platinum at billiards: repeatedly taking the first shot hoping to pot enough balls off the break that I could make good progress (last night I got five in off the break, but only managed 54 points); any failures - missed shots, fouls etc - meant immediately restarting. Tonight I got 60 points (no fouls and 7 shots) and a platinum medal. I believe the scoring is based on an opening score of 81 and every foul and/or shot taken reduces the score by 3. In theory that opening break of 5 should have given me (assuming no mistakes and a pot per shot) 63 points - so I don’t think I did that badly. Tonight my opening shot only potted two balls, but four of the remaining balls were paired up near the pockets - which made things much easier.
